Description

NGC6559 is a reflection and emission nebula in the constellation Sagittarius, about 5,000 light-years distant. It is a relatively small star forming region of gas and dust, illuminated by radiation from hot young stars forming within. Particularly dense clouds of dust obscure light emitted from the clouds of energised hydrogen, to form winding dark lanes.
